My only advice would be to assume that it could all go pear shaped. Of course, your lovingly created Birth Plan may well happen and that will be lovely, but just be prepared. My first labour was a very bad one and because I had been living in a happy bubble I found it very difficult to come to terms with the difference between the Expectation and the Reality.
